Diafanes - Obviously Clear

Indie

por Rafael Nery

Diafanes is a band from São Paulo/Brazil which has been releasing their second album named
Obviously Clear. After the great response from the first album "See Through" , Diafanes is back
with a new bassist and a new cd much more heavier and including several elements from different
cultures.Diafanes is formed by Lorena Hollander (vocals, guitar, koto and percussion) , Ciro Visconti
(Guitars , theremin and lap steel), Samuel Denicol (Bass) and Rafael Tortola (Drums and percussion).

The album starts with the fugue written for 2 voices showing all the classical influence of the
composer and guitarist Ciro Visconti , something very unsual for a rock band. One great detail
is that the fugue is exactly named the opposite of the album, "Clearly Obvious" what created
a really cool sonority effect. Don't fool yourself, because the fugue is just an introduction for one
of the heaviest riffs of the album in the dissonant and exciting song "A New Melody".

A beatiful chord brings "Unity" which has one of the greatest chorus in the whole cd."Out there" brings a
nice arrangement for the acoustic steel guitar reminding us Al di meola style. The band gets their best moments in songs like
"High Heels" , "Silence" , "Tic Tac" and "W.G.Y.U.". The albums ends with the voices on the excellent "Hymn To Selene".

Diafanes is definitely one of the most creative bands I've ever listened to, not only for the quantity of different instruments but for
trying to explore ways which no one has explorerd before. If you are tired of listening in to "same- on, same on" bands, you had better listen
to Obviously Clear
