Lucas Fagundes was born in July '86 and started playing the guitar at the age of 13. He had lessons at GTR - Instituto de Guitarra, a guitar school in Brasilia, with teachers Marcelo Barbosa, Alex Pires and Marcelo Buby. During his early teens, Lucas was heavily into Hard Rock guitarists such as Edu Ardanuy, Serj Buss, Nuno Bettencourt, Reb Beach, Andy Timmons and others. Later on he would listen to Richie Kotzen, Frank Solari, Greg Howe and more fusion-oriented musicians, which are still among his favourite players today. Since 2004 he is a teacher at GTR. He's had a lot of group experience with cover band Mr. Jingles (who played famous pop/rock covers such as Pearl Jam, U2, Live, etc.), Psycho Cocks (a Tritone cover band) and as a guest musician in many ocasions. Had the opportunity to play with Brazilian guitar heroes Edu Ardanuy, Ricky Furlani, Sydnei Carvalho, Juninho Afram, Alex Martinho, André Hernandes and many others. In 2006 he recorded a Demo CD that was featured at "Cover Guitarra" magazine - it's review described Lucas as one of the new great guitarists. The Demo album can be downloaded on his website. The same album got him the chance to take part on a promotional CD called "GIN Evolution III", from GIN Strings. That record made more than 31 thousand copies and is distributed the whole country. Also in that year, he took part on a CD by GTR, celebrating the Institute's 10 years. Today Lucas is a student at UnB (Universidade de Brasilia), a teacher at GTR and still works on the songs to his first solo CD. Check out his website for more bio and information (Portuguese only): |
