01- Hi Kiko, How’s everything? Thank you for this opportunity. Let’s start it by having you telling us how your work at Souza Lima Music Conservatory began.
It was about ten years ago when Joe Moghrabi suggested my name to teach there. I already knew the school because I used to attend the shows and workshops they had around there.
02-You endorse the school as well. How does this partnership work?
I’ve been with them for over 10 years; moreover I get along well with their way of teaching. So in my trips I can present the school besides teaching courses periodically, classes and workshops at school. I think it’s interesting to me and to school as I learned and taught a lot there so nothing fairer than spreading that. The same happened in MI with Paul Gilbert. He was a student, a teacher and now he presents the school.
03- How do the special courses you teach there work all about?
I’ve been through different ways this year. The last ones were courses of six hours in a day. Nowadays I’ve been teaching a course of twelve hours to groups of 3 or 4 students each classroom
04-In your opinion, what’s the greatest reason one should choose to take up music at University, especially Souza Lima?
The high quality of Souza Lima High School is the whole infrastructure and professional administration gotten through these many years as Conservatory and the High level of the teachers. What’s more, Souza Lima sticks to the idea that, as in the Conservatory as n the High School, students do learn music in a real way and well supported so they become very respected musicians.
05-Do you think that the atmosphere at school tends to add up to the musical and Professional evolution of students?
For sure. The number of players and the atmosphere they share surely gets an exchange of knowledge among students as they motivate each other.
06-Which workshops you’ve already attended at Souza Lima?
Tons of them! Steve Morse, Scott Hederson, Michel Brecker, Mike Stern, Joe Lovano, Toninho Horta, Guinga, Mozart Mello, Joe Mograhibi Edu Ardanuy among others...
07- Thanks for your attention. We did appreciate it. Please leave your conclusions and a message to guitar clinic visitors.
Thank you guys and congratulations for the site.
Hugs
Kiko
