You don´t really have to describe Richie Kotzen more closer. His name is standing for very good guitar work, excellent song-writing and awesome vocals. As a former member of Poison and Mr. Big the multitalent - which also drifts with pleasure sometimes in the area of Soul / Blues - has published with the album "Into The Black" again a professional work and once more completely in own direction. The first songs like "You Can't Save Me", "Misunderstood" and "Fear" come along a little bit melancholy and quietly. A pensive Richie Kotzen, which still understands to pack all his feelings in music that also the listener can share them. "The Shadow" is a little bit faster, however, also this song fascinates by his simplicity. If you are searching for frilled parts, bombast and big arrangements you are looking in vain. The songs are all held a little more quiet, otherwise, they maybe have so much attraction because of this. However, don´t worry, Mr. Kotzen hasn´t forgotten to rock the world as "Sacred Ground" proves impressively. "Into The Black" is no easy album you can just hear beside of doing something else. But when you found the access to the songs it won´t let you go so fast any more.
