Edu Ardanuy - Electric Nightmare

by Rafael Nery

Edu Ardanuy is a familiar name for the Brazilian Guitar Scene. Lots of fans had waited for hisdebut "Cd" for such a long time and it's finally avaliable. Electric Nightmare (Released in 2008) is his
first album which was gotten a nice response from the press and the fans in general.

The first thing I would like to highlight about this album is the highest quality of the production. It sounds
awesome in every single way! I could just name few albums in the Brazilian Guitar Scene which had
a production as good as it.

Although there are some clear influences fom Jeff Beck and Steve Morse, Edu Ardanuy shows his unique
style in 13 songs. The musicians which "backed" Edu on this album were also pretty good and showed
their skills along the tracks.

The Album starts with "Rock Will Never Die" and as the name says, it's a up tempo rock'n roll full
of guitars and keyboards. "Alien Voice" brings a different mood, since it was recorded with a sequenced
drum machine on purposed and there's a typical Jeff Beck's moment in the middle of it.

We can see a pretty heavy side of Edu in tracks like "Mad Dog" , "Fire in the Sky" and on the track which names the album. Although
it sounds "heavy" , Edu doesn't get that artificial guitar tone generally used in a lot of prog metal bands. It sounds
a lot like an album recorded in the 80's regarding this style.

There are also some beautiful moments like "Jully-Boogie" and "The Secret" showing some introspective side
of Edu Ardanuy.

If you are a fan of instrumental music, mainly guitar oriented music , you can't miss the opportunity of checking this album out!
