Hi everyone.I believe that you guys are used to sweep technique, and in this column I am going to give an introduction about arpeggios.

Arpeggios are chords notes played melodicly using sweep picking or any other technique.Chords can be formed by 3 or more notes. When we have 3 notes it is called triad, when we have four notes we have a tetrad, and we also can also have more than 4 notes with added note.

On this column we are going to talk about triads.

a)Triad:

Triad is formed by 3 notes and it can be major, minor, augmented and diminished.

Major: R 3 5 Minor: R 3b 5

Augmented:R 3 5# Diminshed:R 3b 5b

1(T) 2 3 4 5 6 7+ 8
C scale:
R....... 3.. 5
C major:
C....... E.. G

If you want to get a minor, augmented and diminished triad you have to change just the interval.

1(T) 2 3 4 5 6 7+ 8
C scale:
R....... 3b.. 5
C minorr:
C....... Eb.. G

Exemplo:

Now we are going to study triads in their inversions, being:

Root Position Triad: R 3 5

1st Inversion Triad: 3 5 R

2nd Inversion Triad: 5 R 3

See the possible three positions bellow

See ya,
