Hello everybody, my name is Rodrigo Rodrigues, I am a guitarist for Destra (Prog-metal band www.destraonline.net), and I am here to talk about "Arpeggios". So, we will study all possibles techniques, but first of all I will talk about the basic techniques for sweep picking. Sweep Picking was published by Frank Gambale and to do it we have to keep the same direction for our pick with the same impulse, as if we were really "sweeping". There are so many guitarists who use sweep technique in arpeggios, in scales and mixing it with alternate picking. We will study all of them, This month we'll start with the basic ones for Sweep Picking. At the first example, we have a basic exercise with open strings. In the second example, we have an exercise with the same direction of the pick, but with digitations of the fingers 1,2 and 3 of the left hand. In the last one we have an exercise of John Petrucci Guitarist. In this exercise which is played on the four first strings,we will use the four fingers going up and after going down. "Respect the direction of the picks" and do the exercises on all the strings and all the neck regions of your guitar. I recommend you to watch some guitar videos with Frank Gambale and Yngwie Malmsteen. Next lesson, we will have an introduction for triads, arpeggios and their main shapes. See ya! R.R. |
