Another column exploring the sounds of the 7th chords with extensions. This time we're going to use 3-1-3-1-3 note-per-string patterns, like the following:
And this is the way I play it: I only pick using sweep picking technique the notes indicated with a square on the tablature. If we apply it to the whole major scale, we have:
Grey dot indicates Root. Some of them can get pretty tricky to play, but it's an excellent way to avoid the traditional sound of the triad or tetrad arpeggios. And, of course, it's a great way to develop a good legato technique. Technically, as shown on the previous column, we can play them with sweep picking when ascending and using legato only when descending. But you can also play them with sweep picking exclusively if you wish . See you later and thanks for reading.
