Arpeggio World - Part I

Hi guitar maniacs from Brazil and the world! It’s a great pleasure to me to be one of Guitar-Clinic's columnists. I will help you with some tips from the World of Six Strings.

Firstly I will talk about arpeggios, how to apply, and visualize them on the arm of the guitar. My first tip is, if you don’t know the basic arpeggios you should learn them and visualize the harmonic field on the arm of your guitar.

In the example below I chose the Harmonic Field “G – Em” which has the following accords:

G  Am  Bm  C  D  Em  F#º G

Example #1: Do the Harmonic Field “G – Em” using arpeggios in triads:
a

In examples #2 and #3 we will explore a little bit of forms of application. By observing the Harmonic Field “G”, we see minor accords (Am – Bm – Em), and logically we can use the arpeggios “Am”, “Bm” and “Em” in songs with “G - Em” tone.

Let’s see example #2:

Example #3:

That’s all for now.

You can download all files related to examples 1 to 3 in Guitar Pro 5.

I hope you enjoy. See you later!
