On the next columns I'll approach this technique which has been used by many differents guitarrists from country/blues to heavy metal. Roy Buchanam once said: "If you think you use only the pick, you're wrong".

To start, let's work individually each finger of the right hand together with the pick

and then try to use the all the 3 fingers together in a progressive way.

A nice way to improve this technique is the study of this patterns and small pieces easily found on classical guitar books.

These exercises are the begining of this technique which will generate a huge number of new possibilities in your style. To have an idea, listen to the works of: Danny Gatton and Brett Garsed and see how they incorporate these techniques in their differents styles.

On the next column I'll bring a very simple exercise of one of the most interesting possibilities of this technique: the polyrhythm.

Symbols of this lesson: p=pick;m=middle finger;r=ring finger and c=little finger
