Chris Caffery – Pins And Needles

Metal Heaven / Soulfood

by Tennessee

Chris Caffery is not already known as the guitarist of Savatage. He published Already three years ago his first solo album called “Faces” and only one year later the successful “W.A.R.P.E.D.” We used to say that all good things are three and thus there is with “Pins And Needles” now another album which is still a little bit more aggressive like the ones before as the first song and title track shows immediately. However, no panic, Savatage and Chris Caffery Fans still become his joy in the songs. Even if more experimentally like “Torment” shows and with even more power, the songs still have their point of recognition. Nevertheless, with the first flow the songs are not always catchy and with some I had my dear trouble. However, then the spark jumped after increased listening. A main focus is natural again the guitar, sometimes fast, sometimes hard, with pleasure and also sometimes very difficult, but most of the time absolutely in the background with the drums. These parts clearly show the class of Mr. Caffery. And even if he would not win the prize for the best singer, there are a lot of worse singers. Some of the guest musicians are Ferdy Doernberg (Axel Rudi Pell) as a Keyboarder with Mettle Eastern, Nick Douglas (Doro) as a bassist and Paul Morris (Rainbow) as another Keyboarder. Two more tips to listen to are “Sad”, just as the quieter “The time”.
