Sérgio Rosar - Super Shred

Talking about any equipment or tool in an article like this one  has always been a challenge, because we have to put in words what sometimes can be unexplainable. Imagine if someone had to write an article explaining the red or blue color? Would that be possible? I believe that some people could find answers and adjectives, but they would not be absolute and would reflect the writer sight about the subject. Now, try to look these colors through different prismes and to say something neuter? Complicated, isn’t it?

That’s exactly the difficulty that we face when we need to write a text like this one,  because even playing several hours with the product it can and should sound different according to the ear and equipment of each one. But since we have to find a solution for this “problem”, I will show my most honest and sincere opinion about this pickup, Ok?

Super Shred is built and idealized by Sérgio Rosar pickups which  is located in Santa Catarina / Brazil and comes reaching a huge public in Brasil due to the quality of their products and the accessible price. The pickups can be found in two versions: Bridge and Neck, and on this text I am going to about the bridge one.

The name itself will probably get the attention of the shredder guitar players, but even the more traditional guitar players are going to be astonished by the quantity of sustain and harmonics which this pickups features.

The sustain characteristic has always been something extremely important for me and as the guitars equiped with Floyd Rose avoid the contact of the strings with the body, this kind of guitar always tend s to lose at this requisite if compared to the traditional models such as Les Paul and Stratocaster. Personally, the guitar which I used for testing didn’t have any sign of sustain unless harmonics, it sounded opaque and with no brightness , in other words it was quitte difficulty to play something with the clean sound and not give up during it or to play something without using too many gain on the pedal to compensate the lack of sustain, but instalingl Super Shred on it gave me a world full of possibilities and much more enthusiasm to start playing back on this guitar which has been at corner of my room for so long.

The dirstortion sound reminds us guitar players such as Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Joe Satriani and etc, while the clean sound brings as reference  the characteristic sound of the Stratocaster model which you can her those “open string chords” with a lot of brightness and clearness.

It’s not a pickup pointed for those who want to play a really heavy sound as Pantera or Slipknot, it is pointed to the “rockers” from the heavy metal and hard rock bands from the 80’s which enjoy this traditional sound added to a more modern resource.
