Sérgio Rosar - Twin Vintage

Tested on: Tagima T 735 and Jackson JDR NR japanese – position: Neck and Middle

I feel very fortunate to be able to do again a review about a product made in Brazil which has reached the international quality standard. I still believe in the brazilian companies and I think some of them have already reached the same quality of the international ones, but what is really missing is the brazillian audience to believe in them and start buying their products which usually are cheaper and sometimes the same quality.Twin Vintage is one of these happy examples. For those who don’t know, Sérgio Rosar is a manufacturer from Santa Catarina/Brazil and has been building hand made pickups with such a high quality that has been accepted by the most recogzined names in the brazillian music industry. This pickup features several possibilites such as : bridge, middle and neck, for this issue I tested on the neck and middle position.

The good point of having a dual blade pickup is that you can install a push pull function and be able to switch from the parallel position to the serial position, in other words, you can go through different tones using the same pickup. The middle position sounds pretty much like a rock’n roll/blues pickup and it’s definitely a cool option for Blues and Rock’n roll fans who are into stratocaster models. It’s impressive the quality of definition and sustain! The harmonics also keep very clear at the clean sound, what’s pretty useful since dual blade pickups tend to not have good clear sound at all. It also sounded nice when I selected to mix the bridge pickup and this one (Sérgio Rosar – Extreme          Hot on the bridge) bringing me a kind of rockabilly sound.

The Neck position turned out to be pretty usefull for fast alternate picking solos making it sound clearer, the sustain is also well defined, but the great surprise is when it comes to the clear sound which this time sounds perfect for harmonies full of dissonances and “funky” rhythms. The dynamic is also easy to use and if you want to play a blues using only your fingers ,this is your pickup.
It worths checking the company website to check out the samples of this and other pickups, maybe now is the time to change your old concepts and to go for something new.
